Paisley top

My last week’s project was to make a top from the basic body block i made…It was a gorgeous chiffon fabric in a paisley print..This was my first time sewing chiffon and it was a little tough..but chiffon flows really well and it is very forgiving, so it was worth it..i also did pin tucking for the first time and it came out ok..

One thing i realised was that, even a 1/8th inch variation makes a huuuuge difference when the final garment is made..and, when making a flared pattern, the bottom of the pattern should slightly curve upwards, else, you’ll end up with 2 tails on either of the side seams making it look droopy..

i added elastic to the bottom hem and the sleeves and did bias binding on the neckline..bias binding is a terror for me, even with my binding foot..i always wind up with the ends of the bias tape at some prominent part of the garment…i never plan out how the end of bias tape will work out…urrrgh..
