Come, say hello

“I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

I discover new things about me everyday, things I would have never imagined to be a part of me. Sewing is one of those discoveries I made a couple of years ago. That’s when i bought my first sewing machine, downloaded a pattern from Burdastyle and sewed it up. I had no clue how to read patterns so obviously I completely messed it up..But it got hold of me, this sewing addiction, and is now the one thing that can always make me happy.

Friends would tell you, I have less patience than a child that wants to open its presents..but I do..I learnt that I can calmly remove all the stitches of something I made if it doesn’t look right..I will sew it up all over again.

Mild OCD is another characteristic that has taken shelter in my brain. I think all night about fabrics, linings, finishing techniques…(I know most of you reading this blog are exactly the same).

I have become a perfectionist, something I’m not very proud of, since it limits one’s ability to be happy.

Apart from my sewing mania, I think a lot about human behavior…Why we do what we do and why we believe in things. What is the basic motivation? Its incredibly interesting and the answer would be very simple, hidden beneath a lot of layers..

I’ve also understood that things look a lot smaller and insignificant, when you remove yourself from the middle of it..

Being insignificant in the grand scheme of things is very liberating. Everyone should try feeling that way…

I love books on psychology, like Dr.Ramachandran’s “Phantoms in the brain”. I also love the Hitchhiker series by Douglas Adams…Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins (interesting perspectives…do you see a pattern?). Love fashion magazines, books on entrepreneurship, handmade items, MAC make up, Ellen Degeneres…I’m a feminist, a humanist and I absolutely detest faith heads..

Miscellaneous things about me would include addiction to tea, lip balms, biryani, going to the gym..ah i dont know, i could go on…

I have two daughters, and a husband who makes me laugh…:D
